Black Friday 2026: What Deals Would Be This Year? (Nov 27 Forecast Guide)
Watch first: our documentary Black Friday: 15 Years of Change — the true story behind this guide — is live on our channel: https://youtu.be/dijzcqUiHZw
Black Friday didn't die — it dissolved. Here's how to hunt what's left.
Fifteen years ago, shoppers camped in the freezing cold outside Best Buy for a $200 TV — as few as five per store. In 2025, a record 202.9 million people shopped across Thanksgiving–Cyber Monday, and online Black Friday sales hit $11.8 billion — yet the stores themselves felt calm, and in-store traffic on the day actually fell 2.1%. The line didn't die. It moved — into October, onto phones, and behind memberships.
So the question everyone asks us: what deals would be this year?
The dates that matter
Black Friday: Friday, November 27, 2026
Cyber Monday: Monday, November 30, 2026 — still, by forecast, the biggest single online day of the year
Round one already happened: Walmart's October deals ran Oct 5–11, and Amazon Prime Big Deal Days and Target Circle Deal Days landed Oct 6–7. Adobe forecasts $95.8 billion of US online spending in October 2026 alone (FORECAST, +8%) — October is a real round now, not a warm-up.
What Adobe forecasts for 2026 (all FORECAST, published Sep 28, 2026)
Full season online (Nov 1–Dec 31) — Forecast: $275.1 billion. Note: +6.7% vs 2025.
Black Friday online — Forecast: $12.9 billion. Note: +9.2% — fastest-growing big day.
Cyber Monday online — Forecast: $15.1 billion. Note: +6.2% — still the biggest single day.
Peak discount — electronics — Forecast: ~30% off list. Note: Season peak.
Peak discount — toys — Forecast: ~29% off list. Note: Best on Black Friday itself.
Is it actually a good deal? Use these benchmarks
From Adobe's documented peak-discount pattern, a genuinely strong 2026 deal looks like:
Electronics / toys: ~30% off list is the real ceiling — be suspicious of much bigger claims
TVs / apparel: ~23% off is a strong peak
Appliances / furniture: ~18–20% off is strong for these categories
Headline "up to 75% off" still exists — but usually on selected lines, member-gated offers, or a gift card bundled with a full-price item instead of a lower price.
The hunt pattern
Electronics: start early — October and early-November rounds are real now
TVs: best day is Black Friday itself — but read the model number (see the trap below)
Toys: Saturday of Cyber Week has been a strong day; don't wait for December
Clothes: Sunday is apparel's day in the Cyber Week sequence
The finish: Cyber Monday is still the biggest online day — keep some budget for it
Three traps the old line never warned you about
The made-for-the-sale TV. Some Black Friday TVs are special models built cheap for the event — fewer ports, different model number, no real price history. Check the exact model number before you buy.
The gift-card "deal." A big-brand "discount" is often a gift card with purchase, not money off. That's fine if you'd spend the card anyway — just don't count it as a price cut.
The member line. Prime, Walmart+ and Target Circle members shop the headline stock first. No membership doesn't mean no deal — it means the limited stock may be gone before the public start time.
One protection working in your favour
Target and Best Buy have run holiday price guarantees in recent seasons: buy early, and if that same store drops its own price later in the season, they adjust yours. That makes early buying much less of a gamble than it was in the midnight-line era. (Check each store's current-season terms when you buy — policies are set season by season.)
We'll be tracking it wave by wave
